Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass live @ ZeroFriends

Ace "Bazooka Tooth" Rock performing "None Shall Pass" live at ZeroFriends in San Francisco, CA.

Aesop brings his own demented controversial  style of rap with poetic stanzas that leave hip hop heads either loving or hating him. He continues think out side the box of rhyming through his complex flows which are truly an acquired taste.

I have seen this dude live at the Paradise in Boston and he tears the stage up with DJ Big Wiz and Rob Sonic! His performance on stage is unmatched and he will not dissapoint.

Cage - Precipiss - track off of KTA

Precipiss is my personal favroite track off of Cage's latest album Kill The Architect. Do yourself a favor and buy this album today off of iTunes: Buy off of iTunes

The twisted rhymes of Cage are back to haunt listeners right in time for Halloween! I was a huge fan of Movies for the Blind and Hells Winter but was not really feeling the new direction he took with his last album Depart From Me, however this new album is really, really good.

It sounds like Cage is going back to his dark roots with songs like "Lamb of Nothing" and "The Hunt". Teaming up once again with legendary producer Mighy Mi, this album has an oldschool feel with Cage's new age touches sprinkled on top.

As an artist, Cage continues to push the envelope by using his tortured past to weave his dark and mysterious ballads. He also reveals his classic warped sense of humour in songs like "Cursed" where he pokes fun at himself for the listeners' amusement. Growing up loving hip hop in the 90s, Cage was one of the illest emcees to ever bring a haunting perspective to hip hop in a way that hadn't been really been done before and just like many other underground hip hop heads in that era, I became a huge fan of his authentic flows.

It is great to hear him making music again and to observe him evolve but I also enjoy the fact that he is catering to some of his oldschool fans by bringing back that shocking imagery in his rhyme schemes. Be sure to buy his new album Kill The Architect on iTunes:

Joey Werra - The Forgotten One

If you are looking for one of the hardest working rhyme writers from around the Wey, just google Joey Werra or Sleepless Side Effects. This dude has put in countless hours, days, weeks, months and years into crafting some of the most complex rhyme patterns and composing some of the phattest beats ever.

If you haven't heard him yet, just peep his music video for his single "The Forgotten One" off of his most recent album "As Of Lately" which is available for FREE here: http://sleeplesssideeffects.com/aol.html#sthash.RqCqNk33.dpbs.

Over the past 14+ years, he has made a strong name for himself as a fire emcee as well as a hook machine with melodic flows that will leave his songs stuck in your head for days. Joey's style can go from mellow to rapid speed in about a nano second impressing listeners with that quick pace syllable delivery.

This emcee is one of the most creative artists I have ever met in just about every type of medium (audio, video, digital, drawings, etc) you name it. Joey keeps it real at all costs on wax as well as on stage and you will not be disappointed by any track he puts out or show he performs. You will be hearing a lot from this rapper on the Phatleaks live stream so stay tuned! Check out his websites:

Terrance Smalls - All That Jazz

Phatleaks is very pleased with Terrance Smalls recent Politics EP which we have uploaded into our daily rotation. This emcee's classic laid back flow and clever rhyme delivery will hook any hip hop head who knows good music. His choice of beats to rap over are very unique, often sampling Jazz and simple drum and bass which are pleasing combonations to the ear drums.

More rappers need to do this, I love that oldschool Jazz feel and rappers should start bringing that back. Drum, Bass, horns and a gifted emcee make for an incredible hip hop song. In his song "All That Jazz", Terrance's hook "I got a mind full of gold and a pocket full of problems" was not only catchy but enlightening.

Take a listen to this rapper's two cents and you could walk away with a mind full of gold yourself! Whether you write raps or are just a fan of hip hop, you will appreciate this emcee so be sure to check him out and follow him on twitter: @terrancesmalls

Yaya Gabbana - My City (Official Video)

Phatleaks is proud to present Yaya Gabbana, an iLL female emcee hailing from Boston, MA. She recently hooked us up with some new trax and we have added them to our stream so be sure to keep an ear out for this hip hop artist in our daily mixes.

Yaya rhymes with confidence using that classic hip hop gritty braggadocio demeanor. She's got style, she's got class and most of all she's got rhyming skills that will leave you mesmerized! In her song "My City" she represents her roots and displays herself as an established Boston emcee not to be messed with. She even takes a funny jab at Chris Brown which had me laughing my ass off: "Drop a freestyle and shut the whole city down, can't control your mouth, I black ya eye, CHRIS BROWN!"

Yaya packs some serious punch lines so if you emcee, beefing with her may not be the best of ideas. All of the songs I have heard by this girl have been over dope club banging beats that have a hint of dirty south, which makes for a killer combination.  This girl is putting in some serious work so be sure to keep an eye out for her. You can download her mixtape here: http://www.hotnewhiphop.com/YayaGabbana/mixtape/
